THE ORIGINAL "BROTHER RAT PRODUCTIONS" WEBSITE
( Now included as an enhancement to Jmcadetalumni.com ! ) Please scroll down.
The alumni of the John Marshall High School Corps of Cadets, Richmond, Virginia, welcomes you to share their memories, traditions, and brotherhood with interviews, old film footage, photos and memorabilia. This is the culmination of a long journey with the purpose of creating a DVD of the Corps. So much was given by so many of their money, time, and memorabilia. We thank everyone who participated. Since the making of a DVD with a preponderance of content became improbable, we decided to create a website to give access to the many bits and pieces of that wonderful journey we called “the making of the movie" of the JMHS Cadet Corps. Please visit frequently! We hope to post more in the future. Scroll down to see a listing of content. Most videos contain audio! Lou Bowman

The cadet corps was initiated in 1915 and was active until 1970. The greater memories from these archives represent mostly the period from 1915 to 1960 at the original John Marshall High School, 8th and Franklin St., adjacent to the John Marshall House, in downtown Richmond. This site is dedicated to all the memories shared by those who were “Brother Rats” in the cadet corps. All the memories you will see, in video, photos and audio are from former cadet members or fans thereof. The John Marshall Cadet Alumni Association proudly brings you those memories, including interviews with former cadets that were filmed in the year 2008 and thereabout. Any cadet viewing these memories will find joy and fondness; casual visitors will get a glimpse into the “brother rat” experience.
Special gratitude goes to to Harry Daniel, who spent many hours cleaning film and to Dick Collier, who donated the funds to convert the film to digital format. Thanks to Bobby Joyce who had a dream and drove us forward, and to Bob Thurman who worked tirelessly to guide us and gather the memories from others. Thanks to all who gave their memories with the interviews and for J.D. West, his wife, Linda and son, Chase for all the filming of interviews and scanning of old photos. And I thank myself, Lou Bowman, for learning the essentials of digitizing, edit work, and learning to create a website with all the content. Thanks to the Alumni Association for funding the website and to the Alumni Band for all their support.
A very special thank you to my bride of 50 years, Jackie Bowman. Her patience was tested, like a brother rat in the drill of my life........Lou Bowman
